Over 1 million rural households in Burkina Faso have no access to electricity and to modern energy services. The rural population depend mainly on biomass and their own physical energy, particularly that of women, for their survival. This dependency has serious consequences both in terms of the rarefication of natural resources and worsening an already high level of income and human poverty. |
